Our favorite time of year continues to approach as temperatures continue to drop and snow has fallen in many regions of the US. One questions everyone is asking these days is how COVID-19 will affect our season. Our ski resorts are working hard to come up with our operating plans for the season. At APP, we have made the difficult decision to not plan any clinics at this point. As we all know, things can always change, but we feel it is safest for our patrols to not attend events with each other until the situation with the pandemic improves. We understand that meeting in person is one thing that makes our organization special, however the health and safety of our members always takes priority.
There will be an option for our member ski hills to host a “micro-clinic” where the patrol will need to provide their own judges to facilitate all of the tests while a Board of Directors member is auditing from a safe distance away from the tests. If this is something you are interested in hosting, you can fill out a request for here: Click Here
While we will have a slower season without clinics, it is giving our Board of Directors the opportunity to conduct a thorough audit of our tests and updating all of them to follow current industry standards. We are taking this season as an opportunity to continue to set the highest standard in the industry. Any certified patrollers who are interested in helping with this process, please reach out to Kacy Carlson, Criteria Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Stay safe, healthy and do your snow dances!
